EDI
Electronic Data Interchange
Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is the structured, machine-to-machine exchange of standard business documents — purchase orders, order confirmations, advance shipping notices (ASN), invoices — between trading partners. EDI uses standardised message formats (EDIFACT, X12, XML variants) so a message sent by one company's system can be processed automatically by another company's system without manual entry.
EDI is the backbone of retail, automotive, and grocery supply chains, where large buyers require suppliers to exchange documents electronically.
Modern EDI is delivered via VANs, AS2, SFTP, or API gateways, and increasingly translated into or from JSON/REST for internal systems.
How BizBloqs relates
BizBloqs includes pre-built EDI connectors and can send and receive standard messages (ORDERS, ORDRSP, DESADV, INVOIC) to trading partners and carriers as part of the integration layer.
