WCS

    Warehouse Control System

A Warehouse Control System (WCS) is the real-time software layer that controls warehouse automation equipment — conveyors, sorters, ASRS cranes, pick-to-light, print-and-apply, robotic pickers. The WCS receives high-level instructions from the WMS ('move this tote from zone A to pack station 4') and translates them into low-level device commands, while feeding status back up to the WMS.

WCS sits between the WMS (business logic) and the PLCs and device controllers on the floor. In highly automated sites the WCS is a dedicated product; in less automated sites its functions live inside the WMS.

A related layer, WES (Warehouse Execution System), blends WMS and WCS capabilities in mid-automated environments.

    How BizBloqs relates

BizBloqs integrates with WCS and device controllers via its integration layer, so scan-driven workflows can drive both manual operators and automated equipment in the same site.
