How the Akeneo integration works

Akeneo owns product information; the warehouse needs a small but critical subset of it. Weights, dimensions, packaging units and barcodes decide whether a pick location fits, whether a parcel is priced correctly and whether a scan resolves at all.

Akeneo PIM — REST API

REST API with OAuth client credentials, scheduled and event-driven sync

BizBloqs authenticates against the Akeneo API with client credentials and pulls the attributes that matter operationally, per family and per locale. Enriched products flow down as they are published, so a new article is scannable the moment marketing releases it instead of after a manual entry round. Where the warehouse measures reality — actual weight on the scale, actual carton dimensions — those values can be sent back to Akeneo so the catalogue stops disagreeing with the shelf.

OAuth client credentials for a dedicated integration user
Agreement on which attributes are operational and which family they live in
Barcodes and units maintained in Akeneo rather than in spreadsheets

Integration FAQ

Does the warehouse need the whole catalogue?

No, and it should not have it. We take the operational attributes; marketing copy and campaign assets stay in Akeneo where they belong.

Can the warehouse correct a wrong weight?

Yes, if you want that. Measured weights and dimensions can be written back, which is usually the fastest way to clean up a catalogue nobody has measured in years.

What happens if the Akeneo connection drops?

Messages are queued and replayed. Warehouse work continues in BizBloqs during an outage; the queue drains once the connection is restored, and failed messages stay visible instead of disappearing silently.

Can we change the standard message set?

The table above is our standard integration with Akeneo. Extra messages, different field mappings or customer-specific rules are handled through workflows in BizBloqs — we tell you upfront what is standard and what is custom work.

How long does connecting Akeneo take?

The connection itself is a matter of days. The realistic timeline is set by mapping and testing, and by how clean your product data and process agreements already are.
