Pick and Pack
Pick and pack is the core warehouse fulfilment process: an operator retrieves the ordered items (picking) from storage locations, brings them to a pack station, and packs them into shipping cartons with the correct documentation and label (packing). In a modern WMS-driven operation, both steps are scan-validated so the right item and the right quantity end up in the right box for the right customer.
Pick strategies vary by order profile: single-order picking, batch picking, zone picking, wave picking, or cluster picking with cart or trolley. The WMS chooses the strategy and directs the operator.
Pack accuracy is enforced by scanning each item into the shipment, weighing the finished parcel, and matching against the expected weight.
