Original situation

Lantaarn Publishers realized that they were facing a real challenge to manage their logistics the way they intended. The paper-based warehouse simply would not suffice for their needs now or in the future. It was very hard to determine the location of products in the warehouse, spaces were used inefficiently and the picking process was difficult and error-prone. Their financial solution provider Exact recommended BizBloqs for a digital Warehouse Management System.

Starting the transformation journey together

Lantaarn Publishers invited BizBloqs to evaluate the logistic needs and both parties sat down to analyze all the relevant processes together. The features and scale of the desired WMS were determined and the details of the necessary integration with their Exact financial situation were analyzed. BizBloqs then implemented its Knight WMS with a seamless integration to Exact online, to turn all the paper processes into digital ones. With handheld scanners at the heart of the warehouse operations and the definition of complex location management capabilities, Lantaarn Publishers truly transformed their warehouse to a digital environment

Unexpected findings

Lantaarn Publishers required all products to be scanned for picking. In practice, it turned out that it was often necessary to pick hundreds of the same title and it wasn’t very useful to scan each and every item during picking. BizBloqs was called again and a change was implemented. The Knight WMS allows for a product to be scanned once and to confirm manually that the fifty or hundred copies e.g. are indeed picked and ready for the next step in the logistic process
